To celebrate Active Travel Month in May 2018 Fife Council Travel Planning team set schools a challenge to travel actively for the whole month to be in with a chance to win some amazing prizes.
Schools that opted to take part were issued with an Active Travel Passport for each pupil to record how they came to school each day. Pupils that managed to travel actively for the full 4 weeks were entered into the draws for a variety of prizes.
The first prize draw was for the school where one lucky winner from each school would win an active travel goody bag. The second draw was to win one of the prizes listed below donated from businesses across Fife.
- 1 of 10 free swim passes donated by Fife Leisure Centre
- Family pass donated by Fife Deer Centre
- £30 gift voucher donated by Extreme Trampoline Glenrothes.
More than 5,000 pupils took part in the initiative over 41 primary schools. 92% of returns had filled in the full 4 weeks on the passports and 46% of schools taking part had a decrease in the number of pupils coming by car by the end of week 4.
