Calling all WOW Schools

Does your child attend one of the WOW project schools (List below)? if so then join us in a game of hide and seek!!

To Celebrate the launch of WOW for 2018/19 the year round Walk to School Challenge in Fife, Living Street’s and Fife Council are inviting you to join in a game of Hide and Seek with Strider, Living Street’s famous Mascot.

During the October holiday, we are encouraging families to get out, be active and head to one of the following parks – Beveridge Park, Letham Glen, Pittencrieff Park and Riverside Park and go in search of Strider.

There will be colourful stones, hidden across the four parks with the image of Strider drawn on them by pupils from Capshard Primary School. If you are lucky enough to find one of the colourful stones please post a photo of the stone onto Living Street’s twitter page @LStreetsScot using the #Striderhideandseek. Don’t forget to re-hide the stone for others to find and keep the game going.

So get your walking shoes on and get seeking at #Striderhideandseek. Fife Council will select randomly from all postings to #Striderhideandseek on the 1st November and announce who will be receiving a fun active session with strider for their school.

Good luck and happy walking!!!

National Liftshare Week

National Liftshare Week takes place nationwide each October to celebrate the social, financial and environmental benefits of car-sharing. This year, the dates are 1st – 7th October, and SEStran want to encourage all of you who are already sharing, as well as giving those of you that haven’t tried it yet the opportunity to give Tripshare a go!
This year we are giving away an annual cinema pass to either Odeon or Cineworld for two, to one lucky Super Commuter. All you need to do to win is grab a sidekick: Not all Superheroes wear capes!

For your chance to win, all you need to do is form a Liftshare team on TripshareSEStran between 24th September – 14th October. It’s that simple. And to say ‘thanks for sharing’, those of you already in a Liftshare team will be automatically entered, too. If you haven’t yet joined Tripshare you can do so now, absolutely free! Visit TripshareSEStran and follow the instructions to register and add your journey details. Then search for a match, get in touch and get sharing!

You don’t have to share every day, even sharing once a week with someone makes a big difference. You’d be surprised how much the benefits add up over time; we’re talking financial savings (regular sharers save over £1000 a year on average), as well as reducing your carbon footprint and decreasing congestion and parking pressures. Plus you might make some great new connections!

You can read the Ts and Cs of the competition over on the Liftshare website

Health Week celebration

Health Week was celebrated on Saturday 29th September at Collydean community centre.

The event was to inform and support the local community about making healthy lifestyle choices and what it means to the individual, family and the local and extended community.

Various stalls were in attendance, Bikeability co-ordinator Shealagh Crabb  was on hand to offer plenty of support and encouragement with Bikeability and CycleFife.

A Question and answer session was given by Tia kwon doe world champion Darren Clarke.

Children and adults alike had a lot of fun with the smoothie bike and were suitably entertained making fruit animals.

A good day was had by all.
