St Andrews Space for Cycling (SASC) have been at the forefront of St Andrews joining World Car Free Day which was held Saturday 22nd September. The group arranged for Market Street to be closed to vehicles and have planned a great day for all the family. The town was buzzing with large crowds enjoying the good weather and great entertainment. Activities include “Dr Bike” bike maintenance, stunt cycling from The Clan and our Bikeability Co-ordinator Shealagh was there delivering some Bikeability sessions. it was great to see everyone having such a good time and to hear support from The Clan and others on the Bikeability programme and what we are trying to achieve here in Fife.
Our Bikeability Coordinator Shealagh was attending more events on the 28th and 29th of August to promote the work of Bikeability. This time the event was the Fife Festival of Township in Kirkcaldy which was led by Kirkcaldy TMCA and supported by various other partners.
The 2 day event offered community participation and demonstrated what charities and works were going on within the local area and provided information on how people could get involved. The event was a great success and showed an amazing amount of community spirit
Over 80 pupils from Fife participated in the 2018 Primary School Dirt Crit Series organised by Active Schools Coordinator Callum Imray, Senior Outdoor Education Instructor Allan Dunlop and Lochore Meadows staff. The aim of the series was to increase opportunities to take part in competitive outdoor cycling while raising awareness of links to local community clubs and sessions.
Our Bikeability Coordinator Shealagh attended to help raise the profile of Bikeability and get more people involved.
